Darko Božić is a Full Professor in the Department of Periodontology at the Faculty of Dentistry, University of Zagreb, and Head of the Clinical Periodontology Unit at the Clinic of Dentistry, University Hospital Center Zagreb.
He holds both an MSc and a PhD, and has built a strong reputation in periodontology, implantology, and regenerative research. In 2014, he received first place at the Robert Frank International IADR Science Award, followed by second prize at the IADR Hatton Competition in 2015.
Prof. Božić is the Croatian coordinator of a multicenter clinical study on the use of EMD in non-surgical therapy, and he has led clinical trials focused on BMP and hyaluronic acid for bone regeneration.
He is also an active lecturer in continuing education programs and has delivered more than 100 invited lectures at major national and international meetings, including EuroPerio, the AAP Annual Meeting, EAO, Perio Master Clinic, and Osstem World and European meetings.
His research has been published in the major journals of the field, including the Journal of Clinical Periodontology, Periodontology 2000, Journal of Periodontal Research, and Journal of Periodontology. He has also taken part in the XV, XVI, XVIII, and XXI workshops of the European Federation of Periodontology.
Prof. Božić is a former President of the Croatian Periodontology Society and a former President of the European Federation of Periodontology.
