Marco Tallarico, DDS, RTDB, MSc is Associate Professor in Fixed and Removable Prosthodontics on natural teeth and implants, as well as Gnathology, at the University of Sassari, Italy.

He graduated with honors from the University of Rome “La Sapienza” in 2000, earned a Second-Level Master’s in Oral Surgery in 2003, and completed his Master of Science in Oral Surgery in 2005 at the same institution. He also attended advanced courses in Periodontology and Implantology at the University of Florence in 2006 and 2007.

In 2013, Prof. Tallarico became the first Italian clinician, together with Prof. Silvio Mario Meloni, to obtain certification from the European Association for Osseointegration in Implant-Based Therapy. In 2014, he won the Prosthesis Poster Session at the Nobel Biocare Symposium in Riccione for the second time, and in 2019, he received the Aesculapius Research Prize awarded by the University of Florence.

Throughout his academic career, Prof. Tallarico has held teaching and research positions at several prestigious institutions. He previously lectured in the Oral Rehabilitation Department of the University of Rome “Tor Vergata” and in the Oral Surgery Department of Marche Polytechnic University. From 2019 to 2022, he served as Adjunct Professor of Prosthodontics, and in 2022 he was appointed University Researcher at the University of Sassari after winning the RTDB competition. He has also served as Adjunct Professor at Aldent University in Tirana, Albania, where he taught Implantology and Prosthetic Aspects in the Master of Science in Dentistry program.

Prof. Tallarico is President of Osstem AIC (Advanced Dental Implant Research & Education Center) Italy. He is also an active member of the Italian Academy of Osseointegration, the Digital Dental Society, the European Association for Osseointegration, and the Italian Academy of Microscopic Dentistry. Internationally recognized as a speaker on implant surgery, he is the former President of Osstem OIC Italy and currently serves as Director of Osstem OIC Europe and Co-Director of OIC Middle East. In 2024 and 2025, he was appointed Chairman of the Osstem Global Consensus Meeting.

An accomplished researcher and author, Prof. Tallarico has published 134 national and international scientific papers with high impact factors. In 2024, he was recognized among the Top 2% Scientists worldwide. He has also participated as both principal investigator and coordinator in numerous research studies and R&D projects in the field of implantology.
