Predictable Hard & Soft Tissue Management for Implant Dentistry

3  Intensive Modules – Didactics & Hands-on

SURGICAL TECHNIQUES YOU NEED TO KNOW TO SUCCEED IN IMPLANT DENTISTRY.

This course is comprised of both lectures and hands-on workshops to learn and practice proper suture techniques, soft tissue management & guided bone regeneration. The course will help you improve your surgical outcome and achieve the best possible results in your everyday practice.

The course will address the principles of suturing for different surgical procedures, flap and soft tissue management, bone grafting techniques and biological materials. It will also focus on the key factors for tissue esthetics and long-term implant success.

This is an intensive course designed for doctors who are currently placing dental implants.

By the end of this course, doctors will have learned:
• Understand the proprieties of different suture materials
• Learn the indications and clinical applications for each techniques suturing techniques
• Closure of the papillae in esthetic region
• Securing of flaps without tension
• Fixation of graft and membranes
• Understand soft tissue grafting and flap management
• Factors necessary to optimize soft tissue esthetics around implants
• Connective tissue grafting using substitute biomaterials
• Apply current concepts and principles of GBR, including ridge preservation and ridge augmentation
• Learn the rationale and indications for guided bone regeneration
• Understand the biology of bone graft material
• Understand material selection for suture and membranes

Module 1 – Advanced suturing techniques in periodontology and implantology
AUG 19, 2022  I  9am – 5pm  I  7 CE Credits  I  $1000 + Tax

This course will allow dentists to become familiar with the different types of threads and suture materials. We will discuss the armamentarium needed to facilitate surgical closures in the mouth. Various closure techniques will be taught as well as the clinical situations in which they are most indicated in periodontal and implant surgery. The technique that will be covered include simple interrupted, figure 8, x suture, continuous, continuous interlocking, simple sling, continuous sling, horizontal mattress, locking horizonal mattress, horizontal half-mattress, vertical mattress, locking vertical mattress, vertical half-mattress, continuous mattress.

Hands-on Exercises Include:
• Closure of the papillae in esthetic region
• Securing of flaps without tension
• Fixation of graft and membranes
• Suturing over an extraction socket
• Controlling hemostasis of donor site

Educational Objectives:
• Understand the proprieties of different suture materials
• Be familiar with suture selection and classification
• Learn the indications and clinical applications for each techniques suturing techniques

Module 2 – Soft tissue grafting techniques around teeth and implants
AUG 20, 2022  I  9am – 5pm  I  7 CE Credits  I  $1000 + Tax

The presentation will focus on surgical techniques to correct mucogingival defects around teeth and dental implants. The course will cover root coverage and non-root coverage procedures using free gingival grafts, connective tissue grafts, allodermic grafts, and pediculated grafts.

The technique that will be covered include the free gingival graft, connective tissue graft, coronally positioned flap, laterally positioned flap, double papilla flap, semi-lunar incision flap, modified envelop flap, tunnel flap and vestibular incision subperiosteal tunnel.

The Hands-on Exercises will include
• Gingival augmentation techniques
• Root coverage techniques
• Donor site harvesting techniques
• Flap design and management

The Educational Objectives
• Review of the scientific literature on root coverage and gingival augmentation techniques around teeth and implants
• Learn the indications, contraindications, and clinical applications for each technique
• Understand soft tissue and flap management

Module 3 – Horizontal ridge augmentation and bone grafting around implants
AUG 21, 2022  I  9am – 5pm  I  7 CE Credits  I $1000 + Tax

The purpose of this presentation is to advance the understanding of soft and hard tissue preservation after tooth extraction for dental implants. We will cover the physiology of the alveolar ridge as well as the biological principles of bone graft materials and membranes. This course will enable you to perform various horizontal alveolar ridge augmentation techniques including the sausage technique in a predictable way.

The Hands-on Exercises will include
• Flap design and management
• Periosteal release techniques and tension free closure
• Fixation of membranes using sutures and tacks
• Horizontal ridge augmentations using resorbable and non-resorbable membranes

The Educational Objectives
• Learn the rationale and indications for guided bone regeneration
• Understand the biology of bone graft material
• Understand material selection for suture and membranes
• Learn step-by-step clinical protocols including the use of resorbable and non resorbable membranes, bone tacks, etc
